Dr. Schnipper received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, followed by internship at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She completed general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut. She finished her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington Hospital Center. Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Schnipper joined the Newton Wellesley Surgeons and accepted the position of Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Newton Wellesley Hospital in 2011. She is board certified in general surgery and board eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. James Becker graduated from Yale University and received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Utah Hospitals followed by an NIH Research Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr.Becker served on the faculties of the University of Utah Medical School, Washington University Medical School and Barnes Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He then served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. He is currently on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Becker has had a long clinical and research interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and has been a pioneer in the development of new operations for IBD. He remains the only surgeon to have been honored as the Humanitarian of the Year by the New England Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
